1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Pipingmind ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information when you visit pipingmind.com, use our IDF Viewer, contact us for support, or otherwise interact with our website and tools (collectively, the "Services").
Pipingmind parses IDF files on our servers to build the interactive 3D view in your browser. Additional details are provided in Sections 2, 7, and 8.
If you have questions about this policy or your data, please contact us using the details in Section 23.
2. Our Privacy Commitment
When you use the IDF Viewer, your Isogen IDF files are transmitted to Pipingmind's servers so we can parse them and build the 3D scene. Files are processed in memory for the purpose of generating the requested 3D scene. Pipingmind does not intentionally store uploaded IDF files after processing is complete, except where temporary buffering or retention is technically necessary to deliver the service or required by law.
- IDF files are sent to our API only when you load or refresh a model in the viewer.
- Uploaded IDF files are processed solely for the purpose of providing the requested functionality initiated by the user.
- Pipingmind does not intentionally retain uploaded IDF files after processing is complete, except where temporary buffering or retention is technically necessary to deliver the service or required by law.
- Rendering, measurement, move, and export features run in your browser after the scene is delivered.
- We retain engineering files only when you voluntarily submit them to us for technical support, and only for as long as reasonably necessary to investigate and resolve your request.
3. Who is responsible for your data
For the purposes of applicable data-protection laws, Pipingmind is the controller of personal information collected through the Services, except where we act as a processor on behalf of another organization (for example, if you use the Services through your employer).
You can reach us at contact@pipingmind.com or via our contact page at /contact/.
4. Information we collect
4.1 Information you provide to us
- Contact and support requests: when you use our contact form, we receive your email address, problem description, and any files you voluntarily choose to attach.
- Communications: if you email us directly, we receive the content of your message and any attachments you include.
4.2 IDF Viewer processing
When you use the IDF Viewer, the Isogen IDF files you select are transmitted to Pipingmind's servers over HTTPS/TLS so we can parse them and build a 3D scene. This processing is necessary to provide the viewer.
Uploaded IDF files are processed solely for the purpose of providing the requested functionality initiated by the user. Files are processed in memory for the purpose of generating the requested 3D scene. Pipingmind does not intentionally store uploaded IDF files after processing is complete, except where temporary buffering or retention is technically necessary to deliver the service or required by law.
The viewer may use browser session storage to remember support-type mapping overrides for the current browser session.
4.3 Information collected automatically
- Server and hosting logs: our hosting and content-delivery providers may automatically record technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, referring URL, pages requested, and timestamps when you load our website.
- Error and security logs: we or our providers may log technical events needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Services.
- We do not currently use third-party advertising or behavioral analytics trackers on the marketing site.
4.4 Cookies and similar technologies
Our marketing pages are largely static and do not rely on non-essential cookies for core functionality. The IDF Viewer may load resources from third-party content delivery networks and font providers; those providers may receive technical data (such as your IP address) when your browser requests those resources.
5. How we use information
- Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Services.
- Process uploaded IDF files solely to generate the 3D scene or other output you request.
- Respond to support requests, troubleshoot issues you report, and communicate with you about your inquiry.
- Protect the security and integrity of the Services, prevent abuse, and enforce our terms.
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
- We do not sell your personal information.
6. Legal bases for processing (EEA, UK, and similar jurisdictions)
Where applicable data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on one or more of the following:
- Contract: processing needed to respond to your request or provide Services you ask for.
- Legitimate interests: operating and securing the Services, improving reliability, and handling support inquiries in a way that does not override your rights.
- Consent: where you voluntarily submit a contact form or upload support files. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
- Legal obligation: where we must retain or disclose information to comply with law.
7. IDF Viewer processing and confidentiality
Uploaded IDF files are processed solely for the purpose of providing the requested functionality initiated by the user.
Uploaded engineering files are used solely to generate the requested 3D scene. They are not used to train artificial intelligence or machine-learning models.
All communication between your browser and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.
Our servers perform IDF parsing, spool and weld extraction, support recognition, and scene generation. The server converts the uploaded IDF into geometry and metadata required by the viewer. Your browser receives this generated scene representation rather than the original parsing logic, and then handles Three.js rendering, camera controls, measurement, move, and export.
You remain responsible for securing your device, browser, and files. If you export or share outputs (for example, PDF exports or saved view files), those actions occur on your device and under your control.
Confidential engineering data
Before uploading confidential engineering files, ensure that you have the necessary authorization from your employer, client, or project owner and that such use complies with applicable confidentiality obligations.
You are responsible for ensuring that your use of Pipingmind complies with your employer's policies, contractual obligations, and applicable confidentiality requirements.
8. Ownership of engineering data
You retain all ownership and intellectual property rights in any engineering files you upload. Uploading files to Pipingmind for processing does not transfer ownership of those files or any associated intellectual property to Pipingmind.
Pipingmind does not claim ownership of the geometry, tags, weld data, spool data, or other engineering content derived from your files for the purpose of generating the requested scene.
9. Support uploads and retention
Uploading support files is entirely voluntary. We only request files when reasonably necessary to investigate or reproduce a reported issue. We use those files solely to provide technical support and do not use them for product development, analytics, or AI model training.
Support files are accessible only to authorized personnel or contractors who require access to investigate and resolve your support request.
We aim to delete support uploads within 24 hours after the support request is resolved, unless you request otherwise or a longer retention period is required to complete the investigation or comply with legal obligations.
We do not use uploaded engineering files or personal information to train machine-learning or artificial-intelligence models.
We do not disclose uploaded support files to other customers or third parties except where required by law or where necessary to provide the requested support through our service providers.
Email content processed through our form-delivery provider may be retained according to that provider's policies and our support mailbox practices. We aim to minimize retention and access support data on a need-to-know basis.
11. Third-party services
We rely on trusted third-party providers to operate our Services. Depending on how you use the website, these providers may process limited technical information (such as your IP address) necessary to deliver their services.
The third-party providers we currently use include:
- Website hosting and content-delivery provider — static website hosting and delivery.
- Cloud hosting provider used to process uploaded IDF files and return generated 3D scene data.
- unpkg — delivery of JavaScript libraries used by the IDF Viewer.
- Google Fonts — font delivery for the IDF Viewer interface.
- FormSubmit — processing and delivery of contact-form submissions and attachments.
These providers process information according to their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review those policies if you want more detail about how they handle technical data.
12. International data transfers
We may use service providers located outside your country. Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers, such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms recognized under applicable law.
By using the Services or contacting us, you understand that your information may be processed in jurisdictions that may have different data-protection rules than your own.
13. How long we keep information
- IDF Viewer uploads: processed in memory to generate the requested scene. Pipingmind does not intentionally store uploaded IDF files after processing is complete, except where temporary buffering or retention is technically necessary to deliver the service or required by law.
- Support uploads: we aim to delete them within 24 hours after the support request is resolved, unless you request otherwise or a longer retention period is required to complete the investigation or comply with legal obligations.
- Contact and email correspondence: for as long as needed to handle your request and maintain reasonable support records, then deleted or anonymized.
- Server logs: for a limited period consistent with security and operations, typically rolling off automatically.
14. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration.
All communication between your browser and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.
Uploaded engineering files are processed only for the duration necessary to generate the requested output.
Access to support information is limited to authorized individuals who require access to provide technical support or maintain the Services.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a security incident affecting personal information, we will take appropriate steps to investigate, mitigate the issue, and provide notifications where required by applicable law.
You can reduce risk by using up-to-date browsers, protecting your devices, and not submitting confidential project data unless necessary for support.
15. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal information, and to data portability or withdrawal of consent where processing is consent-based.
You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority or supervisory authority in your jurisdiction.
To exercise your rights, contact us at contact@pipingmind.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
16. Do Not Track
Our website does not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals.
17. User responsibility, availability, and data loss
While we take reasonable measures to protect information, users remain responsible for maintaining backups of their engineering files. Pipingmind is not responsible for loss of data resulting from user actions, device failures, browser issues, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
While we strive to provide continuous availability, temporary interruptions may occur because of maintenance, infrastructure failures, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
You are responsible for ensuring that files you open, export, or submit through the Services comply with your organization's confidentiality, export-control, and data-handling requirements.
18. Export control and sanctions
Users are responsible for ensuring that their use of the Services complies with applicable export-control laws, trade sanctions, and their organization's internal policies.
19. Children's privacy
The Services are intended for professional and engineering use and are not directed to children under 16 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
20. Third-party websites
Our Services may link to third-party websites or load third-party resources. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We encourage you to review the policies of any third-party services you use.
21. Governing law
This Privacy Policy shall be governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
22. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when the policy was last revised. Material changes will be posted on this page. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice or request consent.
Continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised policy, except where your consent is required by law.
